About Me:

My name is Reham Omar Karram. I am a PhD student at the English Department, Faculty of Arts, Minia University, Egypt. My major specialization is linguistics and text/discourse analysis in general, but I am also qualified to teach a wide variety of other courses, including American & English Literature, Novel, Drama, Poetry, Composition, ESL, ESP, Translation, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Administrative Management.

I have an M.A. in Linguistics from Minia University, Egypt (Excellent, 2003), where I studied under the supervision of such a distinguished professor as Dr/ Abdel-Moniem Mohammad Sallam. My thesis is about: “The Language of Magazines in English and Arabic: A Contrastive Study in Coherence and Text Organization”. Currently, I am working on my PhD thesis in linguistics too: “Dialogue Structure in Coetzee’s Fiction: A Linguistic Pragmatic Approach”.

I had a good experience in teaching English at a number of educational institutions in Qena. I am always trying to improve my methods of teaching English whether it is TEFL or ESP. This is achieved by using computer, any available educational technologies plus excellent oral, written and multimedia communication and presentation skills.

One of my career objectives is to make sure that students feel that they do not disburse their money to buy a certificate. Students should believe that they really get knowledge; not only concerning their specification but a comprehensive knowledge that assist them in their career. Therefore, I have organized friendly and flexible groups of teachers and students to perform social related humanitarian services. Students, thus, bear everlasting feelings towards their institution. On completion of their education, students should have developed advanced understanding, and be able to conduct advanced present and future academic research.

I am interested in Community Development, Economic Development, NGOs, SMEs, Networking, Education, E Learning, New Technologies, Environment, Health, Democracy and Governance, Rights, Gender, Women, Youth, Children, Community Participation, and Global Partnership. I used to manage major projects that involve top quality standard, for which I prepare and develop an action plan as well as an implementation plan, and provide reports on monitoring and evaluation on project activities. Based upon the market factors, I can give indicative costs for the implementation of the project, and suggest mechanism for raising resources, collecting and accessing data. This helps me to lead and direct people to attain the informational related goals of the project.

I am dynamic, hard working, self-motivated, ambitious, and willing to learn and improve. I possess flexible personality as well as strong analytical, interpersonal communications and leadership skills for daily interface with people at various levels, in both field and office. Also, I have a strong ability to organize work and to function well under pressure to carry out tasks with minimum direct supervision, and according to the settled deadline.

Nowadays, I am working as an Administration Officer at The Nile Egyptian Schools-Qena (NES). I’m also the Field Representative and Development Officer of Amal Qena Association for Sustainable Development (Amal-Qena). I also used to be working as a Project Coordinator and Executive Assistant at the Community Capability Development & Environment Protection Association (Redec Qena), within different projects and programs funded by CIDA, USAID, GTZ, and EU. It is a part time job. My responsibility includes writing proposals, preparing visibility studies, communicating with the funding organization and coordinating with them for the implementation of the projects.

I used to work as an Executive Assistant where I provide full secretarial, administrative and executive management support. I also worked as a Project Coordinator within some investment projects and as an Administration Officer at the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Programme (GTZ), and as an Administrative Assistant at The Educational Reform Program (ERP), Qena Office. Also, I am a Technical Support Advisor for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Experience in working with people from different backgrounds, social stratification, levels of education, etc, provides me with excellent communication skills, a commitment to the importance of diversity, a spirit of entrepreneurship and an understanding of the role of such projects in educational, social, and economic development.

I have, I believe, played a significant role in the academic and administrative leadership of the projects I have worked in over the ten years or so. I have carried a range of other responsibilities including cultural, sportive and social activities. I have organized friendly and flexible groups of people to perform social related humanitarian services.
